Kybella is a synthetic deoxycholic acid that is FDA approved for dissolving fat cells of the submentum (double chin). Phosphatidyl Choline and Deoxycholate are chemicals our bodies make to dissolve fat so they can be absorbed by the intestines. These chemicals are made by compounding pharmacies and are widely used for eliminating fat in various parts of the body, then the body removes it the same as it heals a bruise. Because these chemicals exist in our bodies they cannot be patented and therefore there is no financial benefit for a drug company of going through FDA approval. We have used the same compounding pharmacies for 20 years and have found the product to be safe and effective.
